Expert Forensics
Expert Forensics is a relatively new tenant at Cardiff Medicentre having taken occupation in November 2007. The company was formed by two former lecturers from Cardiff University Dental School to provide training in forensic dentistry and to provide a forensic dentistry service to defence counsel in court cases requiring such expertise.
Expert Forensics is essentially an independent forensic consultancy service run by registered forensic practitioners, providing expert opinion to coroners, police and solicitors, paediatricians and social services. The company accept instruction from both prosecution and defence and are experienced in preparing full reports for court purposes, providing pre-trial advice, courtroom assistance and giving expert opinion to the courts of England and Wales.
The Company provides expert opinion advice on:
- Dental Identification
- DNA Profiling (including low copy number DNA Profiling & Y-STR analysis)
- Dental Age Estimation
- Crime Scene Evaluation
- Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
- Bite Mark analysis
- Oro-facial Injury Analysis
Expert Forensics also assist with mass fatality, Facial mapping (photographic facial superimposition), Facial reconstruction, Archaeological skeletal remains and Mass grave investigation. The company runs nationally and internationally regarded postgraduate degrees (MSc, PG Dip, PG Cert) in Forensic Odonotology in conjunction with the University of Glamorgan.
As part of the business support package, the company have applied for assistance towards testing their marketing strategy under the Business Development Credit, for which all CBTC and Medicentre tenants are eligible.
